MENTALLY PREPARED FOR RAIN
I had been watching the weather forecast for months before my trip and it consistently called for very heavy wind and rain without ever letting up. A few weeks before travelling, the forecast showed one or two days with mixed sun and clouds. As the trip approached, those two days turned into a week of nothing but sunshine — so this Stormy Shores photo trip turned into Sunny Shores! To be honest, that was ok with me — it’s a different photographic challenge, but a very nice challenge to work with.
ABOVE: We had a week of beautiful sunrises and sunsets — no rain in sight :)

What an amazingly beautiful and rugged region of Canada! This area has so much to offer in terms of natural beauty — rich, green rainforest; long stretches of sand beaches; and rocky shores with endless coves and inlets.

TOFINO SURF
Tofino is all about surfing. It’s a seasonal tourist destination that really caters to the surfing community and even in the winter, there are many die-hard locals that get out every day. Because of the beautiful, calm weather this December, the waves weren’t what they normally would be with winter storms, but there were still plenty of surfers out on the beach every day.

Not a lighthouse keeper, but a keeper of the light — he carries the light with him wherever he goes.

The outgoing tides leave such an impression in the sand, then erase it and start over again every twelve hours.

When the typical Tofino storms don’t show up, you need to either find the drama elsewhere or make some drama yourself!

I will really miss this place, but these photos evoke the memories of the ocean for me — I love the smell of the ocean air and the sound of the surf. Until next time...
